Phoenix is a dwarf palm or Miniature Date Palm with a slender trunk, occasionally clustered, bearing pinnately-divided leaves to 1m in length; panicles of small yellow flowers may be followed by small edible black fruit. Lovely as an indoor plant.
The pygmy date palm grows very slowly, reaching a maximum height indoors of 4-5 ft. (1-2 meters). This palm produces arching, graceful fronds about 3ft. or 0.9 meters in length with delicate leaflets on them. These fronds develop off of a stately central trunk. Like most palms, the dwarf date palm is an excellent clean air plant.
Elegantly shimmering in the sunlight, this tropical cluster of long arching fronds calmly drapes your interior with a soothing tranquillity. Like its cousin the Canariensis, Phoenix roebelenii is a hardy majestic palm suitable for both indoor and outdoor spaces, its feathery leaves reminiscent of warmer days spent in exotic places.
