Euphorbia millii is known as Crown of Thorns. Bushy, slow-growing, mainly evergreen, semi-succulent shrub with slender, fleshy, thorny stems and branches; the well spaced thorns are wider at the bases. Bright green leaves, 3.5cm long, are obovate, pointed, and tough. Yellow cyathia, enclosed by very intense red involucres, are borne in axillary cymes in spring or summer.
Euphorbia milii plant has some of the showiest flowers of all the Euphorbias. Crown-of-thorns is a tropical, succulent shrub that stays evergreen year-round where hardy. From spring to late summer it produces many flowers with two showy bracts that are most typically scarlet red. Grow best in full sun, dry, well-drained soils.
